Hosted by Capital Radio’s number one drive-time host, Greg Burns, the 5th Annual Footwear Industry Awards returned with aplomb this year to the National Conference Centre in Birmingham.
Event organisers Datateam Business Media—who also publish the leading trade magazine Footwear Today—revealed that this year’s event broke all previous records. Not only were more entries and nominations received, more votes were cast and more guests attended the event than ever before. Among the winners of the night, Cherry Blossom Shoe Care was crowned Shoecare and Accessories Brand of the Year for the third time, truly cementing its position as an innovative and successful business.
Event director, Paul Ryder, said that ‘the awards are designed to shine a spotlight on the UK’s most outstanding suppliers’, noting that the emphasis was on ensuring that ‘the end user—the consumer—gets the service, quality, style, and functionality they expect’.
In addition to being a success for Cherry Blossom Shoe Care, the Footwear Industry Awards was also a success for charity. Both Footwear Friends and Macmillan took a share of the £1,131 raised on the night through the generosity of the attendees.
The ceremony was rounded off with a great performance from live band ‘Smoking in the Boys Room’.
