UGG footwear is an undisputed winter staple: they're cosy, stylish and incredibly comfortable. Typically made from sheepskin, it’s absolutely perfect for insulating your feet against the biting chill of the season. However, because it’s made from sheepskin, it is a delicate material that is easily damaged by rain, stains and general wear. The good news is that keeping your favourite UGG shoes clean, protected and refreshed is a doddle with Cherry Blossom. From their signature boots to their comfy clogs, here’s our step-by-step guide to caring for your UGGs and other synthetic alternatives.

Why UGGs need special care

UGG uppers are typically made from suede and nubuck, which are naturally porous materials. That means they can easily absorb water, dirt and odours if left unprotected. Regular maintenance helps:

     Prevent water and salt stains

Keep the nap looking soft and even

     Reduce odours from everyday wear

Extend the life of your footwear

So, a little care goes a long way.

Keeping them clean

Accidents happen, even when you try your best to keep your footwear clean; avoiding winter rain and mud is impossible, so we’d always recommend protecting your UGGs before their first outing.

For mud

Let the mud dry completely (never rub when wet)

Use Cherry Blossom’s Suede & Nubuck Multi Brush to gently lift dirt away

For marks and stains

Use Eco Ultra Cleaner or Shoe Cleaner

Apply with a clean cloth or brush

Gently work into the stain using circular motions

     Leave to air dry

TIP: Avoid soaking the shoes, using household cleaners or putting them in the washing machine (this can leave water marks and severely damage the nap).

Protecting from winter weather

Rain, snow and slush are suede’s worst enemies, so protection is key. Using Cherry Blossom’s Eco Ultra Repel or Shoe Protector, you’ll create an invisible barrier that helps repel water, mud and salt: perfect for unpredictable weather.

Before you head out

     Make sure boots are clean

Using Eco Ultra Repel, spray evenly onto the newly cleaned, damp footwear upper from around 20cm away or Shoe Protector can be applied to dry material.

Allow to fully dry before wearing

TIP: Reapply every few weeks during heavy use.

UGG refresh

Sheepskin is warm and breathable, but after lots of wear, it can trap moisture, leading to unwanted odours. Our Eco Shoe Refresh spray works to neutralise odours without masking them, removing their cause.

How to apply

Lightly spray inside your footwear after wearing

Allow to dry before next use

Store shoes in a cool, dry place

TIP: You can always use our handy Sneaker Fresh Balls in between wears to keep them extra fresh.

Keeping suede and nubuck soft

The ‘nap’ is what gives suede and nubuck their soft, velvety look, but it can flatten over time.

Reviving the nap

Once your UGGs are clean and dry, gently brush with the Suede + Nubuck Multi Brush

Brush in one direction for a smooth finish

For stubborn flattened areas, brush lightly in multiple directions

TIP: Regular brushing helps restore texture and keeps boots looking newer for longer.

Extra care tips

Always air-dry boots (never use radiators or heaters)

Store away from sunlight to prevent fading
