As we head into January, we’re all looking to put our best foot forward, striding into the new year with confidence. And what better way to do that than to get on board with some or all of 2025’s predicted footwear trends, hot off the runway! Unsure about where to start? Do not fret – Cherry Blossom’s got you covered.
Skinny Sneakers
Chunky trainers have had their moment in the spotlight for the past few years. You know the type: thick soles, bold embellishments, unusual shapes. And although they certainly aren’t going anywhere, their skinnier, subtler counterparts are coming in hot this year. Slim sneakers are chameleonic in their ability to suit nearly every occasion and outfit, making them a versatile addition to your wardrobe. Stick to street-smart styles like Speedcat by Puma and Samba by Adidas for that cool cosmopolitan feel that’s all the rage right now.
Take a Walk on the Wild Side
Partially down to the hype around the Mob Wife Aesthetic that dominated social media at the start of last year, the people are hungry for fashion featuring animal-esque details. Enter: fur-lined and animal print footwear. Fur and faux fur have been ducking in and out of fashion but seem to be here to stay. Leopard print is a trend in itself that had a 2024 resurgence and is being carried over into the new year. These Florentin Dark Leopard Print Pony flats from Moda in Pelle combine a fur-effect animal print, hitting the Mob Wife nail on the metaphorical head.
Horsing Around
It doesn’t matter if you’re a seasoned jockey or have equinophobia (phobia of horses), riding boots are entering the mainstream. Neighsayers will snort in disbelief but we never horse around when it comes to shoes. Tall, streamlined and just a little bit posh, riding boots are practical and versatile, perfect for a trip to the shops or a walk around the park. These Abigail Leather Riding Boots from Michael Kors are super sleek and look the business, helping you gallop your way into the new year. Giddyup!
Bulk Up
The chunky trend ain't going anywhere after becoming a staple in all our wardrobes a few years ago. Any footwear with girthy, platformed height is in, from lofty loafers, bulky bikers and mammoth Mary Janes. Emitting a sassy, ‘don’t mess with me’ attitude, there are plenty of chunky footwear options to choose from. Add some inches in 2025 with pretty much any pair of shoes from Dr Martens because let’s be honest, Dr Martens will never not be in fashion.
Thong features
Not to be confused with skimpy underwear, thong footwear is where a securing strap sits between the big toe and the toe next to it, like a flipflop. This relaxed design ensures ease of access, making your life a little bit easier. They may not be the most comfortable thing to wear, but in moderation, thong footwear is a great summer style. Sandals, sliders, heels and wedges, thong details are going to be big as we move into the warmer months. Birkenstock’s Gizeh Birko-Flor Nubuck sandals are ideal slip-on shoes to slouch around the house or head to the beach.
Vanishing Act
A hot footwear fad for 2025 will be shoes that look like you're not wearing shoes. In other words, shoes with see-through uppers. Made out of materials like clear PVC, the transparent, ‘barely there’ look is key, making passersby do a double-take. These slinky, High-Heeled Vinyl Sandals from Zara are translucent, showing off your fresh pedicure!
Whatever footwear trends you follow this year, Cherry Blossom is here to keep your shoes clean and protected throughout 2025 and beyond.
